hello my few and faithful readers, I do apologise for the infrequency of these posts but coming up with something to write about is difficult, especially when you're bored. Firstly, to get the comment question of the day out of the way, you are in my house cos you're making pizza. I have to admit that these answers aren't as imaginative as I'd hoped, and seem to come from the same person each time which is a little scary to me.
I also hope you like the little arctic monkies parody I've chosen for the title of my blog, but on to more substantial matters.
At this point most, if not all, of the students reading this will have finished for the summer. Right now you're probably envisaging a summer filled with festivals, parties, barbecues and days out. However, what awaits you is three months of boredom. You won't see your friends as often as you would and will find you don't have the money to keep up with the fun stuff. So why do we all have this paradisaical image of summer engraved in our minds? A testament to the power of hope over experience.
In an attempt to fill out my blog some more I've elected to feature a video with each post. This time it's a classic sketch from the two Ronnies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcrs5Z7S-oM I have to say that this is my favourite of their sketches. It's not like it was difficult to beat the mastermind skits.
And now for the news. Greece has now been granted 120bn Euros by the EU. Surprisingly this has been a moment of glory for David Cameron who somehow convinced the EU that the cost of this bailout should be borne by the countries who use the single currency. So England gets away scott free for a change. Admittedly Europe will hate us for it, but who cares? We've been kicking their arses for the past 945 years.
So that's todays post, I hope you'll keep your eyes peeled for the next one. Now it's time for the comment question of the day, today we're asking where did Jesus go? Please leave your interesting or creative remarks in the comments section below.

Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent
Good evening my dears, I trust you all are well. Let's start by getting the comment answer out of the way. Your superpower is telepathy, definitely one I would chose. People always say that it would be terrible to hear all the bad things people really think about you. But since I assume everyone thinks the worst of me anyway I'd lose nothing and gain an excellent chance for vengeance. But that's me.
I have developed a new obsession since last I posted. Or rather I re-developed it, since it is something I have been obsessed with before. I have to say Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is one of the most absolutely remarkable authors I have ever come across. In the space of a week I have purchased the complete Holmes anthology with original illustrations and the complete Jeremy Brett Holmes dvd collection. At present I am trying to stop myself buying Holmesian clothes. Although Watson's bowler is quite nice...
In the meantime I have to try and sort out somewhere to live. Since for the fourth time I have been let down by housemates. To be honest I'm considering taking out a private loan so that I can afford a flat on my own.
In addition to the comment question of the day I'm looking for suggestions of what to name the two fish I'll be getting on Monday. Anything you like, I prefer strange names.
I it's that time again folks, the comment question of the day. please leave your interesting or creative remarks in the comments section below.
So readers, what are you doing in my house?

I love it when a plan comes together!
Good evening readers, sticking to form here is that response to Monday's comment question of the day. Chuck Norris' weakness is David Hasselhoff. I'm not entirely sure where this one is meant to be going. Is it insinuating that Chuck is gay? Or that the Hoff could kick his ass? Cos frankly I think my niece could go toe to toe with the Hoff. Be that as it may, on with the post!
Today I've decided to make this post a tribute to one of Hollywood's greatest actors, Liam Neeson. With his latest film, Unknown, coming out at the end of the month I wanted to take a look back at one of my top ten actors.
Neeson's film debut came in the form of Pilgrim's progress (1978). I can't comment on this film in particular since I haven't seen it. All I know is that Neeson took on the role of none other than Jesus Christ. That can't have been at all intimidating for a young and undistinguished actor.
Though he starred in more than a dozen films since then the first film he was in that I could recognise by name was Schindler's list (1993). Undoubtedly this film will be one that lasts for many years to come and Neeson played the title role. The film won Neeson an award for best actor and was nominated for various others.
Since that blast of epic acting Neeson has been in many films that people today could instantly recognise by title. The most obvious being Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace, in which Neeson played Qui-Gon Jinn the mentor of Obi-Wan Kenobi. K-19, Batman begins, Star Wars II, Kingdom of Heaven and even the Simpsons have been graced by this acting collosus.
Most recently Neeson played Colonel Hannibal Smith in the 2010 remake of the A-Team. This movie made it to number 4 in my list for that year, a truly great picture with a collection of acting talent crested by the man himself. If you haven't seen this yet, you must!
Thee previously mentioned Unknown is due for release on February 18th in the UK. Here is the synopsis from the official site of the film:
Dr. Martin Harris (Liam Neeson) awakens after a car accident in Berlin to discover that his wife (January Jones) suddenly doesn't recognize him and another man (Aidan Quinn) has assumed his identity. Ignored by disbelieving authorities and hunted by assassins, he finds himself alone, tired, and on the run.
On his own in a strange country, Martin seeks aid from an unlikely and reluctant source (Diane Kruger) as he plunges headlong into a deadly mystery that will force him to question his sanity, his identity, and just how far he's willing to go to uncover the truth.
It has been remarked to me that the plot seems fairly similar to the Arnold Swarzenegger film of 2000 the 6th day. However I have this to say on the subject, with Neeson as the main character Unknown will eclipse the tongue in cheek B movies which Swarzenneger seemed unable to avoid. I thoroughly recommend that people go and find out for themselves, as I shall be doing.
Later on this year we have more films to look forward to with Liam Neeson. He shall be playing a tattoo artist in the Hangover 2 (May 26) and returning to the role of Zeus in Wrath of the Titans in March 2012.
So there we are folks, since it's been such a long post today I'll forget about the current events events section and move right on to the comment question of the day, to which I am expecting more than one suggestion this time. Please leave your interesting or creative responses in the comments section below.

Roses are red, Violets are blue, I've got a gun, get in the van
Happy valentines day to you readers. Let's start off today with yesterday's comment question of the day. The only answer received has been that you are the only person in your bed. Hardly surprising and frankly boring, you couldn't even be bothered to fantasize about celebrities. I'm getting the impression that none of you are really trying.
So I promised you a skit about love and relationships. The truth is I don't know what to write. Relationships and human emotions are incredibly complex things that are very difficult to quantify in a few words of a blog post. I do have one or two observations to make though, you've probably noticed these things yourselves. Women go for the oddest men imaginable, at least a lot of the ones I know do. The guy is greasy, lazy, stoned out of his head or drunk 98% of the time and cheated on every girl he's ever been with. Despite this they seem to think they can be happy with this human pimple. It just confounds me that they are then surprised when the guy ditches them and reveals that he's had his way with three other women while they've been together. But hey, maybe I'm just too dense to understand.
Admittedly I am not the most up to date person, in fact I'm quite old fashioned in a lot of my views and opinions. I think it's only right to treat a woman in the right way, use the old and tested methods like flowers and chocolates and going out to dinner. So how is a fellow such as I to manage in a world of Ritzy's and 24 hr vodka bars? It's rather difficult trying to ask a woman to dinner while she's out of her tree on £1 a bottle alcopops. Ah the smell of romance... oh wait that's vomit isn't it.
So that's all I'm prepared to say right now, if I go any further I may just have to open up the bottle of Whiskey in the desk top draw.
In current events I've been reading a story about the ex al-Quaida training camp leader Mohammed Junaid Babar. This is the man who trained the leader of the 7/7 bombings in London. He has just been released from prison after 4 and a half years served in prison. It has been alleged that he was released due to the fact that he was working undercover for the US government for a year before the bombing. Didn't seem to be doing that job too well now did he? "That's bad intelligence, very bad intelligence". All this after the fuss the Americans made about the release of the Lockerbie bomber after 8 years. Maybe we could just swap? Then everyone would be happy? No? Well ok then.
Right so a very heavy post today, I'll do my best to make them more light hearted in future folks. Now onwards to the comment question of the day! It's a gift today people so just give it a go!

Gloomy Sunday
Good evening readers, welcome to the weekend post. I hope you've all been spending your time productively! Lol jk I know you all got wasted last night, which links us nicely to the response for Friday's comment question of the day which was: I'm drinking anything with a % on it. Lovely to know that old fashioned values still have their place.
Speaking for myself I've spent this weekend having a personal Vin Diesel marathon. I bought pitch black and the chronicles of Riddick yesterday and followed those up with xxx, the fast and the furious and fast and furious. I honestly struggle to find a better guy film actor than good ol' Vin. In fact atm I'm looking into buying Riddick contact lenses, just trying to convince myself that they're worth £20. But I'm sure I'll manage it before too long.
Clichéd as it may be, what the hell is going on with the weather this weekend? It was so sunny and lovely yesterday, so there I was gearing up for a pleasant Sunday and the sky decides to open up on me. At least we didn't get the snow people kept telling me we were promised.
On a more serious note the situation in Egypt is looking very worrying today. After 18 days of protests against President Mubarak the Egyptian military council has dissolved the parliament and suspended the constitution. At the moment they are saying that they intend to hold power for the next six months, or until elections can be organised. This sounds very civilized and prudent but historically speaking once the military has control of a country they rather like to keep it. Take the Burmese Junta as an example.
So that's the blog for this weekend, I'll be making a post tomorrow about love and relationships mostly if you care to read it.
Today's comment question of the day is here to put us in the mood for tomorrow, please leave your interesting or creative responses in the comments section below.

Well it's Friday
well assuming anyone is bothering to read this, hello, and welcome to Friday. I was intending to do a skit today about relationships but in the end decided that that one is best left for Monday. So what to talk about in the meantime? Well whilst eating my sausage and cheese wrap I went browsing sites looking for anniversaries for today. I found several worth noting. For the music lovers reading this today in 1963 the Beatles recorded the ten tracks for their first album. In world events in 1945 FDR, Churchill and Stalin signed the Yalta agreement. In 1970 Japan launched their first satellite into space, becoming the 4th country to do so. In 1986 the Iran Iraq war began on this day with an offensive by Iran. But on a more positive note today marks the 20th anniversary of Nelson Mandela's release from prison after 27 years.
In birthdays I managed to find 4 important ones. George Washington in 1732, Thomas Edison in 1847, Baroness Sharples in 1923 and Michael Jackson Jr in 1997. You may well now be wondering who Baroness Sharples was, and in all honesty I have no idea. I just like her name.
So that's todays blog, not much I know but then not much has happened since yesterday as far as I know, I forgot to buy a paper. So if you have any suggestions on topics you'd like bringing up feel free to leave them in the comment box. I'm also starting a comment question of the day, so if you have any interesting or amusing answers please feel free to comment those too.

hello to blogging
Well I've never done blogging before but apparently it's necessary in order for me to pass my degree, so here goes. Let me start by saying a little something about myself. My name is Jon and I live in Lincoln, attending the university. I read history and journalism and it is for the latter that I write this. Right now I'm really into Nerf wars (running round shooting people with foam dart guns), childish? Probably but it's so much fun so why should I give a damn? I'm even starting an official Nerf wars team of Lincoln University. I'm also a power nerd, standing for the presidency of Lincoln Uni Sci fi, fantasy and horror society.
In more normal blokish things, I'm a biker, a petrol head and a dedicated whiskey drinker
When back in my hometown of Boston I do occasional work for the Great Dane adoption society. This is a wonderful charity that has been working very hard to take care of the many large dogs that people have found they cannot afford to keep and have either abandoned, or in the better cases simply asked the GDA to rehome their animal.
So that's me, more blogs to follow in the coming days. Be happy people!
